FAQ — truth serum edition

Your plant’s survival odds, answered without sugar‑coating.

We tell you the truth, then offer the tiniest lifeline. You’re welcome.

How long until my houseplant dies?

Depends how often you remember it exists. Our calculator estimates survival time based on light, water, and neglect patterns — and then suggests a care reset that might buy you a few more weeks.

Overwatering vs. underwatering — which kills faster?

Overwatering is the fast lane to root rot. Underwatering is a slow fade. Aim for “damp, not drenched,” and let the top inch of soil dry before you go full hydration hero.

Why do succulents die when they “like neglect”?

Succulents want neglect, not betrayal. Sunlight is non‑negotiable, and water should be rare but thorough. If it’s mushy, you loved it too much; if it’s shriveled, you ghosted it.

My apartment is low‑light. Are all my plants doomed?

Not doomed, just on hard mode. Look for low‑light champs like snake plants, ZZs, and pothos, and rotate them closer to the brightest window when you remember.

I’m busy and forgetful. What should I buy that won’t die?

Try a pothos, snake plant, or cast‑iron plant. They tolerate missed waterings and won’t dramatize it. Set a phone reminder, or adopt a calendar app that guilt‑trips you.

Is the calculator judging me?

Only a little. It’s more of a brutally honest friend than a jury. You’ll get a survival prediction, plus a “save it” checklist so you can prove us wrong.

Should I mist my plants or is that a placebo?

Mostly placebo. Misting helps briefly with humidity but doesn’t replace proper watering. If you want real humidity, group plants together or use a tray with pebbles and water.
